BEACH PEBBLES

BEACH PEBBLES

I went looking for an image I knew was there.  I searched for it at a local beach on a bright, sunny winter’s morning.  Surely I’d find my next painting just by putting myself in that environment.  It was early February in the Covid winter of 2021.  I was desperate to find some creative energy as the cool winter breeze of the Salish Sea brushed my face.

I wandered the beach for probably 20 minutes.  As beautiful as it was, no image came to me.  Sitting down on a log that the latest tide had provided, I just let the day and time go by.  It would come to me, if patience was my friend.  I reached down and took a handful of beach rocks, none bigger than a few centimeters.  As I exhausted my collection, throwing them back into the ocean waters, I wondered how long it would be before the ocean offered them up to me again one day.  These pebbles relentlessly roll back up the beach again and again as the tides of millions of years constantly wash, polish and tumble these rocks, eventually into beach sand.

That’s when I found my painting.  I reached down for another handful of rocks, and the bright sun lit the paintbox at my feet.

There, right in front of me, was the ocean’s colourful collection of trinkets and bobbles.  So often we look at beach pebbles and fail to “see” the colour.  It was the ocean’s jewelry box, right at my feet.  That had to be my painting.  I’d never tackled such an image before, but that jumble of beach pebbles provided a complex and interesting composition to this artist’s eye.  My painting was born, in the random dispersement of “Beach Pebbles”.

Pricing

My images predominantly sell as limited edition prints (either serigraph or giclée). As such, there is a wide range of pricing, too wide to list within this website. I’ll explain.

My original paintings, those that are still available for sale, range in price from $4,000.00 and up. In most cases though I have limited edition prints available of my images. Needless to say, they are far less expensive than the original paintings. If you are interested in a particular original painting, please contact me at your earliest convenience at info@edhillart.com

If it’s a limited edition print you’re interested in, let me explain. Because of modern day technologies, the image you are interested in can be giclée printed on either paper or canvas. The canvas images can be rolled up and shipped in a simple tube, or they can be stretched on a frame and shipped that way. So too, these images can be reproduced custom made to your wishes. In other words I can create a print in the size you desire, either to fill a small space, or to fill an entire wall. I’ve included below a photograph of a client’s dining room with two of my prints reproduced in a larger format.

You will see that some of my pieces shown on this web site, those lithograph reproductions and art cards, do have fixed prices. The rest of my images, however, can be priced only when I know specifically what you, the client, want. As such, if you are interested in a particular image, please contact me, Ed Hill, directly at info@edhillart.com

Once your order has been determined, you’ll be able to make payment through PayPal provided herein.
